The Tree House Project

I have just been assigned a tree house project.  The goal of this project is to design a tree house with rooms and then make a Bongo animation to take a tour of the tree house.  I have chosen the picture above to br my base model for the tree  house.  The only difficulty I can think of at this point is to find a tree that will actually look good with a house in it.

Connecting Bridges

I just figured i would make a note of what I am modeling the bridges after.  This picture above depics the bridges that I will be designing to connect the different huts.

Day 2

Today is the second day I have been working on my project.  I began by making stairs that I will use for the duration of this project along with the first platform that will be used as a mudroom.  Next, I coppied the stairs twice and made two slightly larger platforms with piped lines for support.  I added cones for the roofs and colored the stairs and platforms a stone Ashlar color and and the supports and roofs are made of wood.

Day 4

I added one larger room off of the left branch. I then added a new railing design around the room.  Plants were added for maderate design effect.  The groundplane is a light grass color which will soon be changed to contrast the light color of the rooms.

Day 6

Day 5 was devoted to designing a bridge that I made with basic boxes and piped lines.  I made the boxes which are used as steps the same ashlar color that the platforms are.  The railings are the normal wood color.  I also designed a grass pentagon to basically be the garden portion of the tree house.  I added plants to emphasize the garden effect.

Day 7

Today I added a rectangular room made from a simple box.  The roof was tricky, i had to make a box and split it with seval cutting planes to get the right design.  I also added a river that i will probably end up taking out because the water is too reflective.  But, the river was made by creating a long, irregular, 2-dimensional object and then extruding and capping.

Tree House Final Animation

Reflections:

Furing the building of my tree house, I have learned many things and built many strong foundations for things that will help me in the future.  For example, I have done a lot of troubleshooting to make things fit and work the way i want them to.  Also, innovation played a large part in the design because i wanted this house to be my own.  I did not want to copy anoyone's idea, it is my own design!  Overall, I feel that my ability to problem solve has been tested and it has triumphed over all of the obstacles I have faced.

Self Evaluation

To self-evaluate myself, I had to look at the work of my peers and judge myself accordingly.  Mr. Croke gave me the opportunity to look at Graham's House Project (http://graham-rhino.weebly.com/drawings-term-3.html) in order to judge my project.  Graham's project showed a lot of small details like the pond and the pool.  I believe that my project showed small details like the trees, railings, and pools within the tree house.  Also, Graham's use of environment, like the sky and the sunlight, made his project look more appealing.  I also used the environment too my advantage by using the sunlight and clouds to make my project more appealing.  Comparing his to mine I have found a few ways to better my project.  First of all, I could have added small details including lily pads in the ponds, a larger variety of trees and more flowering plants to brighten up the tree house.  Overall, I would give myself a 4 for the time, effort, and detail I put in my project.
